Our Story
2023 - Present
Ikenga Creative Lab was founded in 2023 by Olu Adaeze. To Olu, Art and life are interchangeable. Thus, central to her mission is a commitment to weaving narratives that capture the complexity and diversity of life experiences, whilst also exploring uncharted narrative territory by pushing the limits of storytelling. In essence, she envisioned Ikenga Creative Lab as a hub for fostering innovation, championing diverse voice and talent, and rethinking audience engagement. Olu Adaeze is an Associate Artist at B3 Media, is 2024 recipient of the David Lyle Foundation Scholarship and is on the Board of Trustees of The Documentary Film Council.
Ikenga Creative Lab's inaugural project was the proof of concept documentary - 'Women on West Green' - which serves as a precursor to a series of documentaries currently in development. The series is centres around the theme "Habitat" and delves into the lives of cultural groups within distinct environments and contextual settings. Continuing to build the slate, Ikenga Creative Lab is currently in pre-production for four projects.
